Internet Access: Settings: Network Settings

In order to connect your computer properly to the internet,
you must have the all of the following, installed and working :

1) A working phone line pluged into the proper port on your modem.

2) A modem installed with the proper drivers. If the modem can dial out, then the drivers should be ok.
If it does not connect to the telephone line, you should contact a qualified computer repair shop as they may need to install a new modem.
Please note that even though the modem connects to the phone line, if the server answering continually refuses the connection, then the modem drivers may need to be updated. Please contact the maker of your hardware to obtain the latest drivers for your particular needs.
3) You must have the proper protocols of communication, installed and working.
These settings will tell your machine how to process the data it will send and receive. Start by clicking on the "start" button on your task bar, then pess "settings". Next, chose control panel. When the control panel opens, click on the "network" icon.
When that window opens, verify if the Dialup Protocols are there
.
One of the most common protocol errors is when one of the settings was accidently removed or that the protocols installed, are not the right ones for the system they are installed on. Any missing protocols can be installed by clicking on the "Add" button and chosing the appropriate protocols from the list that you will be presented. You may have to install the missing files from your Windows CD.

4) You will need a Dial-up access account which has been activated by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you havn't done it yet, go to the sign up page and become a member now.

5) Last, you will need a version of Microsoft's "Dial-Up Networking" installed on your system. Without this being installed, your modem will not be able to know where, or how it should dial. If it is missing, you may have to re-install it from your windows CD. On Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5.0 and up, you can bring up the Dial-up Networking connection wizard from the setting "tools" on the top menu bar. Go down to "Internet Options, and when the next window opens, use the top bar to open the "Connections" tab. The very first item should be about creating a connection. If the "setup" button is visible, then you have the program on your system.

If you have all of the above taken care of, then all that's left to do is create a dial-up connection, enter your password and username and press "connect". Watch and listen closley to your machine, because if there is a problem, this is when it will let you know. Please note all error messages received before contacting our support department.
